Under Little Chris
As maybe the first teenage solo emo artist to hit the charts, perhaps this will inspire other teenage emo’s with talent to be more brave with performing their music.
With many of the teen artists who actually hit the charts being mostly pop artists, for example Jojo, Britney, and Jesse Mccartney, its unique and interesting to have a different kind of teen artist hit the charts. The good thing with Lil Chris is that he’s different to everything out there at the moment. He’s got some rock, some emo, some indie and some pop in him, but this mixture is a big hit with the country. I think this is because the mixture contains all of the main types of music that people generally like.
After talking to a friend of mine, also a Lil Chris fan, I found out that she actually thought that because a young emo artist had made it so well into the charts, some other similar types of artists would follow. Thinking about this, I agree. I mean, the closest thing we have had to Lil Chris is the charts before would be an emo band, or perhaps Ashlee Simpson. Knowing that people do actually appreciate the emo sound in music, and that they don’t mind whether the artist is a solo one or a band, I do think that it would inspire solo emo artists to gain confidence in their music, and possibly make it big into the music industry. In my opinion, I think it’s about time for some more emo to be hitting the charts, and Lil Chris is a good start.
So what do you think about more emo artists being in the charts? And do you think that we should see some teenage artists who have different music genres to just pop?

I don’t know about you, but when I first heard Lil Chris’ song ‘Checking it out’, I thought it sounded extremely indie. I was kind of expecting his music to be a lot more emo and more heavy, but after listening to Checking it out, I realised he actually has quite an indie sound to his voice.
At the beginning of his Checking it out song, his voice sounds far from emo. It’s only when the chorus begins that the song gets slightly more emo. He even has the little indie high-pitched squeaks in his song like other indie artists do. In my opinion, I really liked it, but whether that is because I’m a fan of indie music or not, I don’t know.
Also, listening to his song “Getting Enough”, I personally think it’s far from emo. His first verse again I think is really indie, and even his chorus.
Perhaps in the future, Lil Chris may start doing more indie music? What do you think?
I’d also quite like to know what fans of emo and rock music think of Lil Chris’ song Checking it out, whether they also liked it or perhaps were disappointed that the song was not more emo like it was made out to be.

As many of you know, the famous website of www.myspace.com is a great way of promoting less-known artists as well as providing information about each artist and a jukebox, allowing you to listen to some of the artists music.
Lil Chris is no stranger to this, having his own Myspace at http://www.myspace.com/lilemochris . I can imagine that Lil Chris was once not as popular as he is now on Myspace, with around 2000 fans and 5000 profile views, which really isn’t a lot. However, once Rock School came to Channel 4, the fans went up to 55,530 and are still increasing. Personally, I think that Lil Chris having a Myspace, which he regularly goes on, is a great idea. He keeps in touch with his fans by posting blogs letting them know about the life of Lil Chris and he made the whole profile page himself which must of taken him a lot of time. It also makes Lil Chris seem more like a person, rather than a celebrity, with the game Pacman on his profile and spelling mistakes all over his blogs, it reminds his fans that he is just a normal person, like they are.
There are many fakes on Myspace of Lil Chris, but this is the real thing - and he has a picture to prove it! A posing Lil Chris wearing a t-shirt clearly stating his Myspace URL shows that this is no fake, and I think that was really smart of him.
So, what do you think of Lil Chris’ Myspace? Is it a good idea? Or is it a bit to normal for someone as well known as Chris?
